DIY: Always Use the Right Tools
Want to get the job done right and more importantly, safely? Then always use the right tools.
When tackling a DIY project, I like doing it right the first time (most self reliant individuals do). I also like to do it safely. I always try to use tools that are specifically designed for the job at hand. With that in mind, I thought I would share one of my DIY projects for this coming weekend.
This weekend I am doing a demolition project. I have two piles of old gutters on the property that need to go to the dump-- I really want them gone! The other day I bought a new saw blade for my reciprocating saw that is specifically made for cutting metals like aluminum and copper.
I made this $4 purchase because I couldn't remember how fresh the blade I already had was and I figured the old blade wouldn't last the job. The new blade virtually assures a quick, clean, and safe job as I cut six foot lengths for delivery to the dump.
The key point here is that there are different tools for different jobs-- with my reciprocating saw I use:
- Wood limb pruning blades
- Wood (with nails in it) blades
- Metal blades
- Plastics blades
I do not use one blade for all jobs-- My advice is to always think about the job and check for job specific:
- Saw blades
- Drill bits
- Tool attachments
- Sandpaper grits
- Etc.
Choose right and your results will always be better and safer. [Please remember to be safe and use protective eyewear]
