There is a Solution to Every Problem . . .

In fact, there are usually several solutions.  One of the cardinal rules over at the Self-Reliance-Exchange.com is to be solutions oriented.  As you peruse the posts and archives, you will see that "solutions approach" as an underlying theme.

Whether I am doing something self reliance related or not, I always try to come up with three alternatives:

  • Good
  • Better
  • Best

Sometimes a good solution that works, even temporarily, is enough.  It may not be pretty, it may not be perfect, but it just has to work.  This gets back to my mantras-- Progress Over Perfection.  I liken this to putting the spare on a flat tire just to get home or to where you can have the tire repaired.

A better solution can be found and as long as it is timely, effective, and cost efficient, you should take it over a good solution.  Using the same example from above, this is getting the service station to do a plug (patched) until you can afford to get a brand new tire.

Finally, the best solution is usually the ideal solution.  Sticking with our auto example, this solution is a brand new tire with the full integrity intact.

In becoming more self reliant, we may have to take gradual steps and settle for a good solution until we can attain a better solution or the best solution.  However, the key is to recognize there are several solutions to the problems or challenges of self reliance and always strive to move forward.
