Just Because You Have the Right of Way . . .

It doesn't give you the right to be stupid!  I spend quite a bit of time in my car in both cities and in the country-- my clients are all over the state.  I see some real "winners".

How many times have you seen people doing any of the following:

  • Biking in the middle of the travel lane
  • Walking or jogging in the middle of the travel lane
  • Walking or jogging with their back to on-coming traffic
  • Biking late at night with no lights or reflectors on their bike
  • Walking or jogging at night without reflective clothing
  • Walking against the traffic light
  • Crossing busy streets on the phone or with headphones on
  • Running into pedestrian crossings despite on-coming traffic

I could go on, but I think you know what I mean . . .

People either don't think or they have misplaced faith in the attentiveness, control, and abilities of others.  I often say to my wife, "They should be glad it was me driving and not a cellular phone talker or texting driver-- they would be dead!"

What good is it if you had the "right of way," but you get run over and killed by an unsuspecting motorist?

Life is too short, use some common sense and live a little longer and happier.  I am stepping down off my soapbox now . . .
