My New Way to Save on Telephone Communications

About a year ago, my wife and I got rid of our land line telephone.  That move saved us about $30 per month or $360 per year.

We turned instead to our mobile phones and it was working well.  However, my step-daughter has reached a certain age where the phone is more important and our mobile minutes started taking a hit and costing us more money eating the savings secured by eliminating the landline.  Mrs. DDFD is also a bit of a chatterbox with her large family.

The new solution installed this week-- Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP),  Cost was $40 for the device and first year of service and $20 per year thereafter for unlimited local and long distance phone calls.

It works much like a regular phone, just over your internet connection instead of phone lines . . . I will post a few updates on the experience and savings.
