Yesterday, we returned from vacation.  I hadn't taken a real vacation in years.  Phone calls went unanswered, the computer was used only to check weather, tides, and recipes, and I got frugal about shaving-- I had a beard until last night (Mrs. DDFD didn't care for it . . . need I say more).  It was wonderful.

That's a picture of the sunrise in a light rain storm yesterday morning in Long Beach Island, New Jersey.  Long Beach Island is what New Jersey should be known for, it is heaven on earth.

We were invited as guests by my wife's family to spend a few days with them on their annual vacation and we accepted.  The trip included:

• Beach time
• Swim time (Unfortunately, snorkeling was unsuccessful due to low visibility)
• Fishing time
• Water park trip for the kids
• Family meals including a fish fry
• Plenty of rest and relaxation

Personally, I had almost forgotten how to take a break it had been so long.  We even stayed an extra day because it was so nice done there this week.

I gathered plenty of new material for posting and will be busy sharing it in the coming days-- particularly my unusual catch while fishing and some recipes I will share over at DaddyCooksQuick.com.
