A Message to My Fellow Frugality Bloggers . . . Give Me a Break!

Originally, I was going to include this as a side note in my weekly Noteworthy Blog Post, but I am feeling belligerent today. I usually try to keep an even keel and avoid confrontation, but I am also known by some for being the boy who isn't afraid to say that the emperor is naked!  So, if I offend anybody-- get over it!  Clearly, the truth hurts . . .

In recent weeks, I am having a harder time finding truly "Noteworthy" posts.  I have recently discussed this with another blogger and commenter on other blogs, and heard him confirm what I am seeing.  Some of my regular reads are getting stale, sadly redundant, and falling prey to group think.  It appears they are moving from giving opinions, providing tips and techniques, and sharing their experiences to reporting current events, doing shameless product/service "reviews", and acting as clearing houses for credit cards and loan rates.

Many bloggers are not writing anymore, instead they are relying too heavily on guest posts, staff writers, and going days and weeks without posting.  Are you guys out of ideas?

Finally, I have even complained to my colleague (and he agreed with me) that one blogger is clearly a big fan of my work because for several weeks now, including this week, I have been reading lifts of my posts.  Now while I believe that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but brother, give me a mention or a trackback once in a blue moon . . .

Here are a few things we can all do to make for better work:

  • What do you say we express our own thoughts, ideas, and opinions?
  • Let's provide tips, tricks, techniques, and introduce concepts that are thought provoking works?
  • If we recommend a product or service, can we make sure we really believe in it and heaven forbid-- actually use it?

What do you say-- some fresh, quality, original work . . . Deal?
