The Public Library is Very Frugal
Just a quick one . . .
I have discussed the value of the public library before and included it on various activity lists. I cannot stress enough that we all need to rediscover the treasures in our public libraries! Outside of your tax dollars-- these resources are FREE!
In the past few weeks I have borrowed numerous:
- Books
- Audiobooks
- Audio CDs
- DVDs
The stuff can be borrowed for weeks and it is all FREE! The library is air conditioned and the whole family can go and find something. Pull your kids away from the TV and get them some books for the summer.
One final note, a valid library card from one town library can also get you books from other town libraries.

Absolutely! There are also magazines, newspapers, books on tape, movies and other resources. You can get help finding things as well. They also have computers with Internet access, and meeting rooms and study rooms, all at no cost.
When I travel, I often use the public library to check up on my E-mail and do a little research.

Another tip for libraries - many are often part of a larger network that allow you to request books from hundreds of other libraries.
College libraries especially do this. Ohio colleges belong to what's called "Ohio Link", and it allows you to search/request books from any other library in the network.
I took advantage of this to borrow books from the library instead of buying them, and saved thousands.
