How to Read a Book
Want to learn something from a book? Here is an approach to aid comprehension:
- Scan the Table of Contents
- Read the Introduction
- Scan the chapter you are about to read
- Read the chapter
- Highlight the key points of the chapter and take/make notes in the margins (This assumes the book is yours)
- Reread the highlights and notes
Follow these steps and you should have a solid grasp of the material. Studies have shown it takes seven exposures to material to know it-- you cover about five in this process.
