My Frugality Quiz

Today, I decided to have a little fun.  I put together my first frugality quiz.  While, I tried to inject a little humor into it, it is still an eye opener to both the non-frugal and extremely frugal.  I have a couple of other quizzes planned.  Let's get started:

1) Do you use every drop of a product like toothpaste?

a) All of it!
b) Most of it
c) Who cares?

2) In the last 90 days, your credit card balance has

a) What credit card balance?
b) Decreased
c) Increased

3) Your last purchase was

a) A basic need
b) A nice to have paid with cash
c) Financed or credit card funded

4) Your vehicle was

a) Paid for in cash
b) Paid off completely after financing
c) Recently traded in at the dealer and the old loan was rolled into the new loan

5) How many times did you eat out this week?

a) None, all were home cooked and leftovers for lunch
b) 2-3 times with some on business (written off)
c) More than 5 times

6) Do you smoke?

a) Are you crazy?
b) Once or twice a year on special occasions
c) Once or twice an hour

7) Do you buy water?

a) You're kidding right?
b) Occasionally
c) All the time-- by the case!

8) Do you pay ATM bank fees?

a) Almost never
b) Occasionally
c) All the time.  Hey, the bank needs to make money too!

9) Do you have a garden?

a) Full veggie garden
b) Some herbs and tomatoes
c) Yeah, and those pesky deer keep eating my expensive, decorative shrubs!

10) In winter, you set you thermostat at

a) 65
b) 68
c) 72 or higher (Sauna baby!)

Now it's time to score the quiz.  Give yourself 3 points for ever "a" answer, 2 points for every "b" answer, and 1 point for every "c" answer.  Add up the points and refer to the scale below:

26 and above    You're super frugal

22 and above    You're very frugal

17 and above    You're frugal

11 and above    Time for some changes

10 and below    You're in the wrong place

Fun quiz. I got a 23, which is less than I would have hoped for, but makes sense. I've been working on a few areas, and have been making progress but am not quite there yet.

We all have areas for improvement, myself included.  When you reach the horizon (a goal), you will always see another.

Last purchase? In the past two weeks, we've bought a value pack of underwear, a plunger to use for hand-washing clothes, and a new broom. We so spendy.

Car was paid, in cash, a decade ago. NEXT vehicle: bicycles.

I only got 24, but ... we live in a basement apartment. We're actively in the process of setting up a Community Garden for our neighbourhood, where I plan to grow potatoes, cucumbers and whatever else I can squeeze into 100 sq feet, so I'll give myself 3 points for that, putting me at 27.

We can't control our temperature, and city bylaw says our landlord must keep it above 69F. If we were paying our own utilities, we'd be doing Crunchy Chicken's Freeze Yer Buns challenge and would certainly be below 65F.
