10 Questions to Ask a Potential Client
In my next few posts, I am going to explore 10 questions that you should ask a:
- Potential employer (10 Questions to Ask a Potential Employer)
- Potential spouse (10 Questions to Ask a Potential Spouse)
- Salesperson (10 Questions to Ask a Salesperson)
- Potential client
- Potential employee
With this post, I will look at potential clients. Here are the specific questions I would start with:
- What do you like best about your current product or service?
- What do you like least about your current product or service?
- What do you want?
- What do you need?
- What do you expect? How do you measure success?
- What is your biggest challenge or problem?
- Who makes the final decisions?
- Where do you see the future for your company or industry?
- Do you have any concerns that we haven't yet addressed?
- When do you want to start receiving the product or service?
Keep in mind that the answers are from the client's perspective-- they may not get some things like their wants and needs right. It would be your job to uncover that and bring them around to the right perspective. Help them "self-discover" the real solution to their problems and the client is yours.
Finally, my most important advice on this topic is to really listen to their answers!
What would you ask?
