Creating and Using Side Income to Cover Your Monthly Expenses

The basic ideas of frugality usually seek to keep expenses in check.  I believe in reducing expenses AND increasing revenues.  What would happen if you could cover your monthly expenses with side business income?  Your day job income would become the "gravy" that you could use to:

  • Attack debt and liabilities
  • Build savings and investments
  • Improve the quality of your life and that of your family

Problem is that this doesn't happen overnight.  So how do you make it happen?

Lowering your monthly expenses is always a worthy goal, but in this case, you are doing it to meet up with your side business revenue.  In time, you hope that the side business income exceeds your monthly expenses.

Finally, side business income can help you in the event of a job loss or other financial setback.  I have discussed that concept in my post, What is Defensive Entrepreneurship?and 5 Reasons to Lower Your Expenses.
