It Pays to Spread Your Grocery Dollars Around . . .

I grocery shop at five different stores.  In case you were wondering, I shop at:

  • Wal-Mart
  • Shop-Rite
  • Big Y
  • Shaw's
  • Stop & Shop

I do this because of:

  • Everyday savings available-- Some places are just cheaper on common staple items.  Some store brand items are favorites in this house
  • Special promotions-- Floating from place to place exposes you to big sales and stock up opportunities
  • Quality of certain items available-- Some places are better for meat, others for fruit and veggies

I long ago learned not to assume all the best deals can be found in one place-- so I adjusted my approach accordingly.  My savings improved dramatically after the change.  I say-- take advantage of the disparities . . .

Many of you may say that I am wasting fuel or time.  Well, I don't go out of my way-- these places are near work, home, or my kids when I visit them and I have other business in one of the stores and stores nearby.

This approach allows me to capture an ideal balance between quality and value.
