Words of Wisdom: Ayn Rand on Morality, Truth, Guilt, and Evil

Ayn Rand was an author, philosopher, and screenwriter.  Her philosophy was Objectivism-- she favored individualism, laissez-faire capitalism, and constitutional protection of the right to life, liberty, and property. She opposed all forms of collectivism and statism, including fascism, communism, and the welfare state.  Here are some of her thoughts on morality, truth, guilt, and evil:

  • The purpose of morality is to teach you, not to suffer and die, but to enjoy yourself and live
  • The truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it
  • The worst guilt is to accept an unearned guilt
  • There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil
