No Posts Yesterday: Opening Day Revenge
I didn't post yesterday. Instead, I went fishing and caught three decent sized trout. Two 14" rainbows and a 13" brown trout.
Today, I returned to the same spot and caught three more. I caught two 14" rainbows and a new personal record-- a 20" rainbow holdover trout. Here is my first picture on this site:
That's me holding my prize. My son took this photo. The boys didn't come with me either day-- they were still sleeping when I left.
My previous record was an 18.5" holdover brown trout (river caught). A holdover trout is one that wasn't recently stocked. They were put in a year or two ago and have had time to grow and eat "wild". They are usually recognized by bright colors, perfect fins, and pink meat (very much like salmon-- a sweet salmon . . . a real treat). Recently stocked trout tends to have worn fins and white meat. Here are some fillets from yesterday's catch-- you can see the difference:
Tonight was trout dinner with rice pilaf and corn.
