Ways to Jazz Up a Salad . . .
It is salad season and you may be looking for new ways to jazz up the same old, same old. Here are some ideas I found and many that I have used to make a healthy meal even more tasty:
- Shredded or assorted cheeses (Blue, cheddar, feta, mozzarella, jack, etc.)
- Assorted nuts (Almonds, cashews, pecans, pine, walnuts, etc.)
- Assorted fruit (Apples, apricots, craisins, grapes, lemon, lime, mango, oranges, pears, plums, raisins, strawberries, etc.)
- Herbs (Basil, dill, oregano, mint, parsley, cilantro, etc.)
- Arugala
- Cooked asparagus
- Baby spinach
- Green beans
- Red onions
- Avocado
- Chick peas
- Garbanzo beans
- Hummus
- Water chestnut
- Pumpkin seeds
- Sesame seeds
- Sunflower seeds
- Assorted peppers
- Fresh jalapeño peppers
- Roasted red peppers
- Olives
- Pickles
- Croûtons
- Tortilla chips
- Bacon
- Chicken salad
- Lump crab meat
- Sliced steak
- Tuna salad
- Hard-boiled egg
- Pasta
- Plain yogurt
Mix and match to taste. Enjoy!
