Words of Wisdom: Henry David Thoreau on Time
Henry David Thoreau was an American author, poet, naturalist, and philosopher. Here are some of his thoughts on time:
- He enjoys true leisure who has time to improve his soul's estate
- It is never too late to give up your prejudices
- As if you could kill time without injuring eternity
- Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each
- Cultivate the habit of early rising. It is unwise to keep the head long on a level with the feet

One of my favorite Thoreau quotes reminds us to simplify our lives. He suggested that we keep our business "under your thumbnail" so as to make life much more manageable.
Of course, the "different drummer" quote is also a great one. He was quite an individual and always encouraged others to be individuals. At least that's what America used to be all about.
