Burning Daylight

Do you waste time?  Do you waste the day?  I have written that I value time a little more than money (What's More Valuable? Time or Money?).  You can make more money, but time, once gone, is gone forever.  As most readers of this site know-- I hate waste.

I tend to wake up naturally around the same time every single day-- around 6:00 AM (Give or take 30 minutes).  This happens even on weekends and I don't mind (Why I Like Getting Up Early on the Weekend).  Once in a blue moon, I sleep late on the weekend-- you know around 8:30-9:30 AM.  I do nap on weekends in mid to late afternoon (Sunday Afternoon Naps), but getting up early allows me to get a boatload done everyday usually before most of the house is up and stirring.

On weekends, I try to get most everything done by noon.  Errands, chores, projects get done with little interruption, traffic, and aggravation.  I also like the extra time cushion if something runs overtime . . .

The satisfaction factor is high when you get most of your to-do list complete by lunch (The Joy of To-Do Lists).  It is nice to sit outside and admire your work with a beer, wine, or gin and tonic (my favorite summer mixed drink).

I often laugh when people tell me they get nothing done . . . just keep up early and get started before everyone else!

When do you get up and start your day?

I'm a morning person too. I don't catch many worms, but I get a lot done when I put my mind to it.

I've found that the more compressed your days are (high demand on your time), the better you are at getting the most out of them. It's the opposite idea of "the work fills the time."

I'm with you on the gin and tonic. I love the flavor and smell. It seems that anything with lime is good.
