More on Rewarding Yourself . . .
Back in August 2008, I posted on rewarding yourself for doing things right (Reward Yourself!). I was thinking about this again recently. I am working on many projects both personally and professionally. I struggle every single day to push on despite the hardships.
Small rewards help reinforce your actions and keep you motivated. My daughter and I spent several hours working on the vegetable garden this past weekend-- I rewarded her (and myself) with a hot fudge sundae.
The importance of small, short-term rewards is really important because the big, long-term rewards may be weeks, months, or even years away. Staying motivated is almost as hard as getting motivated-- rewards can help.
In the case of the garden prep, we needed a short-term reward for the hard work since the "fruits" of our labors will be July, August, and September. I also enjoyed the quality time alone with my daughter.
