If You Are New to This Site . . .

If you are new to this site, welcome.  If you are a returning friend, thank you.  If you are new, here are some things you should know:

  • This site is dedicated to living a quality life on a limited budget (divorce will do that to you)
  • Trying to stay positive, I don't do lots of divorce related posts-- actually, every post is from the perspective of a divorced father and remarried husband (my divorce was by my ex wife's choice, not mine)
  • While I am a cynic, I always try to look at the positive side of things and making the best of bad situations
  • Quality and value rule, I don't consider myself cheap, but rather extremely value conscious and very selective about how I spend money
  • I am not just about cutting expenses, I believe in the need to look for ways to increase incomes (What is Defensive Entrepreneurship?)
  • Opinions are expressed here, but I am not so closed minded that I won't listen to a logical and reasoned counterpoint
  • My sense of humor is dry, so watch for plays on words and a humorous tone in my posts
  • I don't express extreme political views and I don't like labels, but if you must know, I am fiscally conservative and socially lenient-- I believe in personal responsibility, self-sufficiency, don't like taxes, and I am not a fan of big government.  Many of you can probably figure out what that viewpoint is normally labeled.
  • While considered highly educated (I have two graduate business degrees), I personally value common sense, experience, and know how most of all (An MBA Degree Ain't All It's Cracked Up to Be . . .)
  • Because I believe in keeping a low profile, I use the pen name acronym of DDFD (The Art of Keeping a Low Profile)
  • Finally, aside from the Words of Wisdom and Noteworthy Blog Posts, the majority of the content you will find on this site is original (Where Do My Post Ideas Come From?)

To get a better taste of what this site is about I recommend starting here:

I am open to suggestions, feedback, and discussing the giving and receiving of guest posts-- I can be emailed at:  DivorcedDadFrugalDad@GMail.com
