Quick Breakfast Idea: Fruit Smoothies
Actually, this could be lunch, dinner. or a snack, but I always prefer them for breakfast.
Here's what you need (Makes 2-3 tall glasses):
- 8 oz. of orange juice
- 1 cup of vanilla or fruit yogurt
- 1 banana (for thickness)
- 10-12 strawberries (fresh is best, but frozen works too)
- 1 handful of blueberries or raspberries (adds color as well as being good for you)
- 1 tablespoon of honey and/or maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon of wheat germ or coconut (for texture)
- 6-8 ice cubes if using fresh fruit (ignore with frozen fruit)
Any of the berries can be substituted with peaches, apples, grapes, watermelon, etc.
Other juices can be added as well-- I like pineapple or pomegranate juice.
Here's what to do:
- Put all ingredients into a blender
- Blend for 15-30 seconds
- Serve in a tall glass
