Quick Breakfast Idea: Fruit Smoothies

Actually, this could be lunch, dinner. or a snack, but I always prefer them for breakfast.

Here's what you need (Makes 2-3 tall glasses):

  • 8 oz. of orange juice
  • 1 cup of vanilla or fruit yogurt
  • 1 banana (for thickness)
  • 10-12 strawberries (fresh is best, but frozen works too)
  • 1 handful of blueberries or raspberries (adds color as well as being good for you)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey and/or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of wheat germ or coconut (for texture)
  • 6-8 ice cubes if using fresh fruit (ignore with frozen fruit)

Any of the berries can be substituted with peaches, apples, grapes, watermelon, etc.
Other juices can be added as well-- I like pineapple or pomegranate juice.

Here's what to do:

  • Put all ingredients into a blender
  • Blend for 15-30 seconds
  • Serve in a tall glass

Drink up!
