Do You Buy Features or Benefits?
Do you buy features or benefits?
Let's distinguish between the two:
- Features are what the product is, how it works, what looks like (size, shape, color, etc.), the bells and whistles.
- Benefits are what the product does, the time, effort, and money it saves or makes.
Which do you prefer? What it is or what it does?
Most of America buys features. The sad thing is that the features usually carry the premium prices and may not even provide the benefits desired.
On the other hand, frugal people buy benefits such as time or money saved or money made. Frugal people do appreciate features, but only as an afterthought.
Next time you go to make a purchase ask yourself, "Am I buying features or am I buying benefits?" Be sure to get what you are paying for.
