5 Tips for Saving Money in the Shower
When taking a shower there are a few ways that one can save money:
- Take a fast shower-- saves water (conserves your well and of course, some people pay a water bill)
- Take a fast, warm shower-- hot water needs to be heated (gas, electric, or oil all cost big money these days)
- Skip the "Rinse and Repeat" instructions on the shampoo and conditioner bottle-- that's marketing hype (some huckster, I mean "adman" dreamed that one up)
- Don't use more than a quarter-sized amount of shampoo or conditioner (unless your have lots and lots of hair)
- Skip the shampoo and conditioner on alternate days-- unless you have been sweating heavily, just rinse your hair throughly with water (I use this trick in winter-- originally, I found it helped keep some of my hair's natural oils in and kept my hair from feeling dried out-- you hair will actually look healthier)
Don't forget to wash behind your ears . . .

How about that “rinse and repeat” eh? Makes you use twice as much of that stuff!

I often skip the shampoo on alternate days, but I still need to use conditioner or else I end up with tangles and frizz. Or else I just don't get my hair wet on those days. That works well too. My hair doesn't get as dried out when following this schedule.
