Old Town Halls and Bloated Government

Ever see old town halls-- small aren't they?
I saw one recently in a nearby small city and that was my reaction.  It got me thinking that at one time, towns and small cities could be run by a group of people housed in just that one building.  Now that same city government is spread out in several large buildings all over town.  To me this is indicative of the outrageous growth of modern government.

Why does this matter?  Because someone has to pay for all this government-- that's us the taxpayers.  Life is hard enough and yet each year we work more and more of the year just to pay our taxes.  I will spare you the actual dates-- just be sure to think in terms of months spent working to meet all your tax obligations, before your family gets a penny from your labors.

Imagine a frugal government-- one that doesn't spend more than it earns each year . . . no more budget deficits!  (Before we start pointing fingers-- it's both parties fault and our own for allowing it to happen!)

I look forward to the day when enough people get fed up with this and decide enough is enough-- perhaps in my lifetime . . . until then, more taxes to pay.
