It’s Expensive Being Broke . . .
There have been times I have told my wife, "It's Expensive Being Broke . . . " Why? Mainly because you can’t take advantage of opportunities to save money by stocking up on great sales for items you use regularly.
Let's use toilet paper as an example-- buying single rolls you might pay near a dollar per roll, whereas buying the 20 pack gets you to about fifty cents per roll. I don't know about you, but when you are broke and need toilet paper you don't want to get socked paying almost double when you can least afford to do so-- just doesn't make sense to me.
When comes to saving money, I am an opportunist. I always look for opportunities to save and buying in bulk is one of my strategies, it just helps to have the cash on hand to seize the opportunity which is usually a fleeting one.

This concept gets back to something I've said for years - above all else, having some money gives you some options. Those options include purchasing, investing, saving and even getting yourself out of jail.
Think of all the folks who pay someone to cash their check. Many don't have enough money to put any in the bank, so it ends up costing them to get the cash money they earned.
If you don't have money, your options are limited.

Totally agree. Having the cash to buy things in bulk can make a big difference in your grocery budget.
