Quick Lunch Idea: Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Lunches out with the kids isn’t cheap these days—McDonald’s will easily set you back $20 for lunch. A low cost ($2-3), quick lunch idea for feeding the kids is good old-fashioned grill cheese. Ready in minutes and the kids will love it.
Grilled cheese in the toaster oven
- Toast the bread for a minute
- Put a slice of cheese (american cheese is traditional) on each slice of bread
- Toast it for another minute or two
- Put the two sides together
- Cut and serve
Grilled cheese in a pan (not the low cal version)
- Butter or Pam the pan, then heat the pan
- Butter the bread slices and put in hot pan
- Put cheese on the slices
- After the melt a bit put the two sides together and press with spatula
- Keep flipping until golden brown
- Cut and serve
Additional ways to jazz up grilled cheese:
Use different cheeses
Munster, Chedder, Swiss, Jarlsberg
Add meat
Bacon, ham, burger (a burger melt), tuna (a tuna melt)
Add sliced tomatoes
Cheap, easy, and always a hit with the kids.
