Quick Lunch Idea: Grilled Cheese Sandwiches



Lunches out with the kids isn’t cheap these days
—McDonald’s will easily set you back $20 for lunch.  A low cost ($2-3), quick lunch idea for feeding the kids is good old-fashioned grill cheese.  Ready in minutes and the kids will love it. 

Grilled cheese in the toaster oven

  1. Toast the bread for a minute
  2. Put a slice of cheese (american cheese is traditional) on each slice of bread
  3. Toast it for another minute or two 
  4. Put the two sides together
  5. Cut and serve

Grilled cheese in a pan (not the low cal version)

  1. Butter or Pam the pan, then heat the pan
  2. Butter the bread slices and put in hot pan
  3. Put cheese on the slices
  4. After the melt a bit put the two sides together and press with spatula
  5. Keep flipping until golden brown
  6. Cut and serve

Additional ways to jazz up grilled cheese:

Use different cheeses
Munster, Chedder, Swiss, Jarlsberg

Add meat
Bacon, ham, burger (a burger melt), tuna (a tuna melt)

Add sliced tomatoes

Cheap, easy, and always a hit with the kids.
