An Introduction . . .

I am a divorced father.  I am also a frugal father.
I originally thought of calling this blog, “Divorced Dad, Broke Dad” or “Divorced Dad, Poor Dad”, but I decided to go with “Divorced Dad, Frugal Dad” because while at times I was and sometimes still feel broke or cash poor, I found that my frugal streak has actually risen to the occasion to both help me and save me.  This site will share my personal points of view and my many frugal approaches to surviving the financial devastation of divorce, but would also be a benefit to anyone challenged by financial difficulty, be it a job loss or some other similar financial setback.

Many of my frugal views and long standing approaches have become quite fashionable lately with prices of gas and food skyrocketing.  I will explore:

  • Personal savings,
  • Investment,
  • Debt management,
  • and Revenue production.

I will also share my ideas on:

  • Simple living,
  • Green living,
  • and most importantly, ways to lead a better quality of life despite the circumstances forced upon a divorced dad or anyone on a limited budget--I am a big believer in quality over quantity.

A bit more about me . . .  I am divorced several years now, recently remarried, and I have four kids, two of my own and two step—an even mix of boys and girls.  I have lived in the Northeast all of my life.  I have a graduate degree (MBA) in finance.

While I have traveled overseas, I marvel at the beauty of the USA.  I have set foot in 38 or 39 States and been on the ground in four US time zones in less than 12 hours.  I like to be outdoors fishing, hiking, grilling, gardening, and lounging in the yard.  Indoors, I like to cook, read, and watch movies.   I like good (not necessarily expensive) food and affordable beer and wine.  Most of all, I like spending quality time with my wife and kids.

Welcome to my blog . . .
